Welcome back, Me. It’s been a while.

I've been gone for a long, long time. It feels like a deep sigh — and a breath of fresh air — to be writing here again.

I don’t even know where to begin.

So much has happened. I remember exactly when I stopped posting — and why. I still have several drafts from 2023 that I never shared. I won’t be posting them, but I’ll find other ways to tell those stories, in my own time.

So, where have I been?

2023 was quite a year.

I finally convinced my parents to let me marry the man of my dreams. That journey wasn’t easy — he’s from Slovenia, I’m from Pakistan. While we share the same faith, our cultures seemed different enough that my parents worried it wouldn’t work. But here we are: happily married for two years now, with forever to go.

We got engaged a few months after their blessing, and married a few months after that. Getting legally married turned out to be its own adventure — from Slovenia to Pakistan to the US to the UK, each place had its own roadblocks. It was exhausting. But, like that quote says: “Impossible is nothing.” We figured it out. And when we finally did, we had the most fairytale wedding imaginable.

But while we were wedding planning (or, more accurately, chasing documents and visas), my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 oral cancer. Two weeks after her diagnosis, she underwent major surgery. Then came radiation. Chemotherapy. It was a lot. It is a lot. She is in remission now, and I thank God every day.

After our wedding, my husband moved to the US, and we began our happily ever after. We both received our green cards — a dream come true. As a TCK, finally having a place to belong is… everything.

And life just kept happening. I became an aunt again — to two more perfect little ones. I was already an aunt to one mischievous sweetheart, but now there’s even more love to go around.

So yes — I’ve been really busy living. Navigating the highs and lows. I’ve had a lot to say, but sometimes silence felt more sacred. I wrote, but didn’t post. Until now.

It’s May 30th, 2025, and I’m finally ready to share again. I couldn’t be more excited.

I have so many stories I’d love to tell — like the one about our wedding: the paperwork chaos, my mom’s diagnosis, and everything in between. But honestly? I want to focus on the magic of it. Because it truly was magical.

Another post I’d love to share is about becoming a permanent resident, and how that shifted my TCK world in ways I never expected. And we’re finally going home to Slovenia this summer, for the first time since 2023. That deserves a post of its own. There is so much more to come.

Thank you for tagging along and sharing in my joy, comforting me in my sadness and struggle, and reading my diary for what it's worth. The adventure continues.

Lots of love,
Me.
